While it’s true that One Piece owns a significant stake in every aspect that produces a phenomenal manga, the series is, at its core, a battle-shonen. It doesn’t matter how much the plot diverts from the conventional shonen formula, at the end of the line, it will come down to the element that defines this magnificent series the most-- fights. Fights among a few other components make the good chunk of the One Piece fans love and care for.

The Water 7 Saga--hands down one of the best sagas in One Piece--is known for its engaging battles. Both the emotional aspects and sequences of the fights are top tier.
10 Chopper Vs Kumadori
The CP9 was a big enough pie for every Straw Hat to get a slice. Even Chopper, the crew’s doctor, had some action-- some quality action that redefined his very character. It was in this fight that Chopper proved that treating damage wasn’t the only skill he was proficient at; he was just as skillful at inflicting damage.
It was also the first time fans saw a glimpse of Chopper’s ultimate form--Monster Point. This fight is easily one of Chopper’s most prominent ones.
9 Franky Vs f*ckurou
While it might not be the most epic fight of the saga, this fight between Franky and f*ckurou was most definitely one of the most entertaining. It was a funny and amusing ride that transitioned into a hardboiled exchange of fists.

8 Straw Hats Vs Franky Family
A fight stemming from anger is one bound to stand out. There was no bold exchange of punches and kicks in this battle; only a one-sided massacre. The Franky Family, who assaulted a precious crewmate, witnessed the Straw Hat Crew in their wrath mode.
Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Chopper were the central attack team. The aftermath of the retaliation was a broken down Franky House.
7 Luffy and Zoro Vs Coby and Helemeppo
This duo battle was an impressive showdown between predestined rivals. Luffy and Zoro reunited with their old friend(s) in the most One Piece fashion possible. Nothing expresses sentiments better than a warm punch to the face.
Rather than being a hype-inducing battle, this fleeting encounter was more on the warming side of the spectrum. It gave the fans an intricate update on the Coby duo’s status.
6 Straw Hats Vs Aokiji
The Long Ring Long Land arc was the perfect yet mild prologue of the Water 7 Saga. The main highlight of this brief arc was the Straw Hats’ unfortunate encounter with Aokiji, a Marine admiral.
Needless to be said, it didn’t end so good for our band of good guys. They were effortlessly subdued by the Admiral and were left at his mercy. Was it not for Aokiji’s kindness, the Straw Hat Pirates would’ve been no more.
5 Sanji Vs Jabra
Each of the Straw Hats experienced a significant power boost after the events that ensued in Enies Lobby. Sanji’s respective power boost was his iconic Diable Jambe; it was during his fight with the morphed Jabra that he used it for the first time.
The first time of everything always has the greatest impact. Jabra’s defeat was set in stone the moment Sanji tapped into his potential.
4 Luffy Vs Blueno
On the topic of first times; Luffy vs Blueno was the fight that birthed the former’s iconic Gear 2nd. The technique was inspired by the CP9’s Soru; a World Government exclusive ability.
This battle could be separated into phases; pre Gear 2nd and post Gear 2nd. The fight’s tide performed a 180 in Luffy's favor after it transitioned to the second phase. The freshly developed Gear 2nd was just that overwhelming.
3 Luffy Vs Usopp
It’s no news that the Straw Hats bicker in between each other every now and then. This time, however, it was beyond all the previous light conflicts combined. It was an emotional rollercoaster that shed light on an aspect of the series unknown to the fans.

Of course, the fight ended with Luffy’s victory. That said though, his victory felt more painful than any defeat he had previously suffered.
2 Zoro Vs Kaku
Any fight that involves Zoro is automatically a fan-favorite--this one included as well. It might be due to Zoro’s badass persona or perhaps due to the involvement of blades; point is, it was an impressive show of strength.
Kaku, one of the more interesting members of the CP9 crew, proved to be more than a worthy opponent for Zoro. The latter had to literally triple his swordsmanship potential to secure victory.
1 Luffy Vs Rob Lucci
Per usual, the final battle of this Saga was its most sparkling highlight. It was One Piece at its peak; some of the best content the series has to provide. It would be a handful of arcs afterward that fans could experience such a sensation one more time.
The series’ anime adaptation did a great job breathing life into this masterpiece of a fight. The animations were fluid and the sound effects were on point. It truly was a feast for the eyes.
